6 Ways to Change Your Skin
February 11, 2021

Having healthy, glowing skin is no less than an asset to flaunt. Fortunately, this asset does not come with a hefty price tag. It simply requires an equally healthy skincare routine. A major cause for unhealthy, lifeless skin is our perspective to look at a glowing skin as a goal to achieve. Skincare, instead, is a delicate process that requires effort, a great diet, and an excellent daily skincare routine.

Admit it, we all have marveled at the radiant, pore less skin of our favorite Korean bloggers. And thus, to feed your curiosity AVOIR has curated a list of five excellent habits you can adopt right away for glowing, youthful skin.

Keep your skin hydrated

Healthy skin is well-hydrated skin. Acclaimed Korean make-up artist, Ko Won Hye, swears by the importance of hydration as you go about with your skincare routine, and we cannot stress enough on the idea. Well-hydrated skin is clear skin with barely visible pores and a flawless complexion. The action plan? Drink plenty of water and never underestimate the power of a good mist spray.

When the bad skin days become too frequent, it is time to invest in a good toner to hydrate your skin and a moisturizer with quality ingredients to seal the moisture in. A weekly dose of sheet masks is also a great way to keep your skin healthy, youthful, and well-hydrated.

Find the right products for your skincare routine

Let’s begin by breaking the myth. Adopting a skincare routine doesn’t necessarily mean hoarding a truckload of expensive skincare products. It, instead, is a trial and error process of deriving what your skin needs and responds best to. While following the ten-step Korean skincare routine is a great way to achieve that ‘natural glow’, identifying the right products is a more challenging task.

When shopping for products, look for quality, raw ingredients, and a product that suits your skin type and exact requirement. For example, if you are prone to acne outbursts look for a product that is low on chemical ingredients and is purposefully designed to treat acne than splurging on an all-purpose cream.

Sun-care is important

For years we have been taught to apply a necessary dollop of sunscreen every time we go to a beach. Instead, make it a habit to apply the sun cream every time you step out in the sun or even if you stay anywhere near the natural light inside. But applying sunscreen only makes sense when going outside, right? Wrong! While windows block the UVB rays, the sun’s UVA rays can still penetrate your skin and cause harm.

Sunscreen protects your skin from damaging effects of the sun’s ultraviolet rays and prevents drying, skin darkening, wrinkles, age spots, and even skin cancer. While investing in a quality sunscreen is sure a great idea, your research shouldn’t end here. Roll over the product and check in the back label if your sunscreen provides at least 30 SPF protection and protects you from both UVA and UVB rays.

Layer it right

Layering products form the heart of the Korean skincare regime. Layering refers to aplying on the skin a series of specific purposed products in a set order of sequence as a part of the skincare regime than relying on a single multipurpose product.

In short, as the leading Korean brand Sokoglam sums it up, “It’s not about having more products than you can count, but rather about having the right products that do the right things and using them in the right order.”

While the concept of layering may not be new, it is unique and highly effective. Layering products helps them better penetrate the skin, making them more effective.

Eat well, sleep better

Often, we tend to overlook the minor aspects of our day-to-day lives that end up harming our skin quality. The case in point being poor eating habits, and unhealthy sleep patterns. The most effective and time tested way to achieve flawless skin, however, is to bring about a soft change in your lifestyle.

Nourish your body and indulge in skin-friendly food options such as green vegetables and fruits rich in vitamin C. Other nutrients to include on your menu plan are vitamins A, E, and K, zinc, omega-3, and monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Also, remember to get a solid eight-hour sleep to say goodbye to those annoying pimples and dark circles.

How to get great skin is a question that is often asked among the Beauty circles. Amidst an array of high-end products, eclectic concoctions, and over-indulgent pieces of advice, the answer is relatively simple: be consistent with your skincare routine. Yes, forming a great routine and consistently keeping up with it will not only bless you with healthy, glowing skin but also make sure that your efforts are long-lasting and won’t disappear once you stop using the products. Our advice? Adopt and stick to these healthy habits from AVOIR and see the results yourself!
